* This rate is for bandwidth only. Line charges vary according to the type of connection. No hidden fees; no requirement to sign up for extra services (e.g. Caller ID, special telephone package, or cable package). These are our regular rates, not limited-time introductory pricing.
** Backbone connect speed varies with the modem technology used as well as the distance. Upstream speeds for ordinary DSL are typically much slower than their downstream speeds; our upstream and downstream speeds are equal. Because many important services (such as domain name resolution, mail, and Web acceleration) are provided directly by our backbone servers, your system will likely be far more responsive than it would be if it were connected over an asymmetrical wired network. The speed of your connection will depend upon the equipment used and the lengths of the wires between your site and LARIAT. We engineer our networks conservatively for maximum throughput and reliability.
*** This column lists the number that most Internet providers don't want you to see: the maximum amount of Internet bandwidth your system is allowed to consume during a sustained download, file transfer, or streaming audio session. (The bandwidth consumption is averaged over a period of one minute. We let you use more speed in short bursts, for example, when you are fetching a Web page.) DSL and cable providers set such limits -- frequently fairly low ones -- but often will not tell you what they are or even that they exist. Instead, they claim to be giving you a data rate equal to the maximum speed of your modem -- such as 1.5 Mbps for DSL -- when their networks do not actually have even a tenth of the capacity they'd need to sustain such speeds if everyone used their claimed capacity at the same time. We believe in being open and honest with our customers, so we're upfront about these figures. Thanks to our unique technology, we outperform the competition in side-by-side tests at every price point.
**** CIR, or "Committed Information Rate," is the amount of our Internet capacity that we reserve exclusively for you, whether you're using it or not. Even if the network is running entirely at capacity (an exceedingly rare event), you are guaranteed at least this much throughput on our link to the Net, though you will virtually always get more. Most DSL and cable modem services do not offer you any guaranteed throughput, or CIR, at all. CIR is the most expensive component of Internet service and the most important measure of performance for business applications. Our rates for bandwidth are roughly proportional to CIR.

Business SDSL is ideal for businesses which would prefer a wired connection or which are inaccessible via wireless. SDSL is symmetrical, which means that it supports the operation of Internet servers.

All SDSL service levels include the following features:

  • Automatic Web acceleration - no special software required
  • Strong encryption (optional)
  • Some ISPs charge you a setup fee large enough to buy the equipment, but then retain ownership of the modems. We don't do that; the modems belong to you and can be reused for other applications.
  • No minimum contract term - we don't lock you in!
  • Instant, local tech support. We carry cell phones! When you call you'll get us, not some stranger in a foreign country. We make house calls. And we actually know how to help.
  • Electronic mailbox with automatic filtering of most malicious attachments
  • Unlimited access to our downtown wireless hotspots included with all broadband subscriptions
  • VPN support allows secure connections from home to office or between offices; we'll help you set it up!
  • LARIAT is the only ISP serving Laramie that is:
    • Locally owned
    • Locally operated
    • Locally involved (we offer free hosting and e-mail to
      community groups)
    • Not a franchise or chain, and
    • Actively involved in local business development
